NEW YORK – The dollar surged to the highest in almost two months against the euro on Monday (Tuesday morning GMT), as renewed concerns about Greece’s debt crisis and ahead of the U.S. presidential election on Tuesday.
At 2200 GMT Tuesday (05:00 GMT), the euro was trading at 1.2791 dollars, after falling in the morning to the position of 1.2767 dollars, its lowest level since September 11.
The European currency was quoted at 1.2835 dollars around 2100 GMT on Friday.
The euro also weakened against the yen, falling to 102.69 yen from 103.30 yen on Friday, while the dollar fell to 80.28 yen from 80.47 yen.

Several  Premier league referees debating whether to boycott matches involving Chelsea, the club accusing fellow  Premier league referees Mark Clattenburg made a racist remark in last Sunday's game against Manchester United, says ex-Premier league referees Clive Wilkes.
Clattenburg, 37, became the subject of a police investigation and Chelsea Football Association over claims that he manyatakan using 'inappropriate language' included a racial slur directed at their Nigerian midfielder John Obi Mikel.

Premier league referees Clattenburg insisted he is 

innocent of all charges.

Wilkes told The Sun newspaper he has been in touch with several former colleagues and they have told him they are considering boycotting the match Chelsea - mainly because in their eyes it's not the first time the club gave the charges against one of them.
"I keep in touch with many young Premier league referees and the strength of feeling there is something like what happened to Mark," he said.
"I know some Premier league referees are even talking about a boycott against Chelsea because of all these problems."
"Remember, this is not the first time Chelsea blames Premier league referees - there Anders Frisk and Graham Poll."
"And some of the Premier league referees now feel this is enough. No exaggeration if we say Premier league referees in this country have never felt more humiliated than this time."

Wilkes added that Premier league referees feel they are not receiving the appropriate support they get from the officials.
"They were so disappointed. They feel vulnerable, feel that they are being left isolated. Whereas they do not get support, no support at all," he said.
"They wanted to speak for themselves, but are too scared, they feared they would be fired if they publish their complaints."
